Teaching spaces

Our well-equipped teaching laboratories and spaces are ideally suited for blended field-laboratory-lecture teaching.

Extensive field equipment and aquarium decks provide opportunities for students to understand the complexity of the Great Barrier Reef.

Facilities

  • Two air-conditioned teaching laboratories:
    • mobile benches
    • fresh and seawater taps
    • drying oven
    • 20 stereo-dissecting microscopes and 20 compound microscopes
    • audiovisual equipment and whiteboards.
  • Fully equipped seminar room.
  • Dedicated student outdoor aquarium deck:
    • ample space for dissections and specimen preparation
    • range of aquariums connected to the flow-through seawater system that draws water directly from the reef.
  • Touch tank and display aquarium:
    • houses a variety of specimens to introduce students to organisms living on the reef.
