Event Description

Full Description:
School of Social Work and Human Services Professional Practice Symposium.

Human service and health professionals and their colleagues are invited to join Dr Tim Moore as he explores knowledge from his research and its implications for practice with children and families.

Dr Tim Moore, a Senior Research Fellow at the Murdoch Children's Research Institute, Royal Children's Hospital, Melbourne, will facilitate the symposium entitled 'Major social and economic changes and their impact on families and human service practice'.

The symposium will explore what Dr Moore calls 'social climate change', the impact of rapid social change on the conditions under which families are raising children. Participants will have the opportunity to explore Dr Moore's ideas and their implications for practice.

Dr Moore has worked as an educational and developmental psychologist for over 30 years, both in Australia and England, in a variety of mainstream and specialist settings. As a researcher he has sought to bring together knowledge from diverse disciplines to shape services in a range of practice settings.

This workshop would draw on a wide range of research and appeal to people working across all health and human service areas.
