Event Description

Full Description:
Professor Ian Harper is one of Australia's most highly regarded economists and operates at the forefront of economic analysis, commentary and reform. He has been described as 'one of those relatively rare academics who can communicate extremely well with both the business and the academic community'.

Professor Harper has worked closely with governments, banks, corporations and leading professional services at the highest level. As a member of the notable Wallis Inquiry, he was at the forefront of financial market reform in Australia.

In August 2008, Professor Harper became a Director of the former Access Economics following a 25-year academic career, including 16 years in various roles at Melbourne Business School. Most recently, Professor Harper joined Deloitte Access Economics as a Partner when Deloitte acquired Access Economics in March 2011.

Professor Harper's book 'Economics for Life' will be available for purchase during the session and he will sign copies after his lecture.

A light lunch and refreshments will be served.

Places are limited, so please call 07 3365 1546 or email alumni.bel@uq.edu.au to register by Thursday 5 May 2011.
