The University of Queensland has honoured its most innovative students and entrepreneurs with awards to coincide with World Entrepreneurs Day.

The UQ Entrepreneurship and Innovation Awards recognise the university's most visionary and intrepid students, founders and mentors.

The 2024 winners are:

  • UQ Student Entrepreneur of the Year: Mackenzie Salisbury, co-founder of Flashback, a digital camera that recreates the nostalgia of disposable cameras.
  • UQ Startup of the Year: Young Stripes, a STEM education startup in Kenya founded by UQ PhD candidate Hemanshi Galaiya.
  • UQ Mentor of the Year: Felix Hall, a social entrepreneur dedicated to promoting mental health in the workplace.
  • FaBA Food & Beverage Startup of the Year: All G Foods, a biotech company revolutionising dairy protein production.

Head of Entrepreneurship, Nimrod Klayman, praised the winners for their ingenuity and contributions to the economy.

“We are proud to support these talented individuals and their innovative ventures,” said Mr Klayman.

“Their success is a testament to the entrepreneurial spirit of UQ.”

UniQuest and the Food and Beverage Accelerator (FaBA) sponsored this year's Entrepreneurship and Innovation Awards.

“UniQuest has been a consistent supporter of these wards since 2022, and we're excited to have FaBA join us this year, broadening our focus to include the dynamic food and beverage startup ecosystem,” Mr Klayman said.
