The University of Queensland Rugby Football Club are hoping to win their 25th Premier Grade premiership this Sunday, September 23 as they face Sunnybank at Ballymore.

“It’s been an up and down year,” club captain Tim Buchanan said.

“It’s all starting to come together at the right end of the season," he said.

“We had a good couple of weeks leading into this. We played the Sunshine Coast and had a really big win, which we needed to get some confidence and get back to what we were doing well.

“We worked hard for the victory against Easts Rugby Club and getting that result really helped us along for the game against Brothers Rugby Club too.”

The last Grand Final appearance by the UQ Red Heavies was in 2010 where they held out the Sunshine Coast Stingrays 19-11 in a war of attrition.

This year’s tussle for the Hospital Cup should be no different, as the club faces the defending Premiers.

Kick-off for Premier Grade is 3:05pm at Ballymore.
