The defending champions won the 28th edition of the Great Court Race at The University of Queensland’s St Lucia campus yesterday.
Students, staff and alumni all gathered in the Great Court to see the runners compete for what is now a prestigious award in the sporting life of the University.
The showcase event saw last year’s champions Caitlin Sargent and Jordan Pearce return to defend their titles.
The competition was extremely tough with runners jostling for prime positions as they made their way around the course.
The talent of Caitlin Sargent and Jordan Pearce once again rose to the top with both runners successfully defending their titles.
Caitlin ran a new race record of 1.41:16.
Earlier, the men’s and women’s sprint races kicked off proceedings with Carl Jackson and Caitlin Feeney taking out the titles.
The popular college relays were well supported, with colours and slogans covering the Great Court.
In the end it was St John’s in the men’s and Duchesne College in the women’s, who took home the titles.
