UQ’s top nursing and midwifery staff and students have an extra reason to celebrate tomorrow’s International Nurses Day - they have just been recognised for their outstanding contributions to academic learning and teaching excellence

Head of the UQ School of Nursing and Midwifery Professor Catherine Turner announced this year’s School Awards at a special event at Customs House in Brisbane on Thursday night.

The ceremony was scheduled to coincide with International Midwives Day (5 May) and International Nurses Day (12 May) in recognition of the contribution nurses and midwives continue to make to the health outcomes of individuals and the community.

“As we recognise all hard-working nurses and midwives around the world, UQ seeks to reward leaders in the areas of nursing and midwifery research, research supervision, training and student and clinical learning,” Professor Turner said.

“I congratulate this year’s outstanding and deserving award recipients.”
