Students wishing to map out their future post-graduation should head to UQ’s largest ever Careers Fair, to be held on Wednesday, March 30 in the Great Court.

Careers and Graduate Employment Manager Daniel Capper said the UQ Careers Fair was the second largest event of its kind in Australia and provided an opportunity for students to network with more than 135 employers in one place.

“Students can talk face-to-face with potential employers and find out exactly what a graduate position in the field would entail,” Mr Capper said.

“It’s also a chance for students to discuss individual opportunities and talk about whether their skills and experience would fit within the organisation.”

This year’s Careers Fair has been relocated to the Great Court, Mr Capper said.

“Last year approximately 5500 students attended and we’re hoping to attract even more people to the 2011 event,” he said.

“The Great Court is the hub of the University and is a major traffic thoroughfare, so we are expecting greater student exposure.

“Employers are very keen to meet with our students and be part of what is always a successful event.”

Both public and private industry recruiters will be promoting their graduate programs to students in their final years of study, with some prospective employers also offering vacation work, internships, work experience, scholarships and co-op programs.

Some organisations will also be accepting resumes on the day, so get a head-start on the competition by visiting the Careers Fair website to get tips for preparing your resume, and to find out which potential employers will be there.

Careers Fair will be held from 11am-3pm in the Great Court, St Lucia. For more information, please visit www.uq.edu.au/careersfair/.
