Academics from around the world will talk at a symposium which will put the trade relationship between Australia and the US under the microscope.

Professors from Hong Kong and New York will be among those set to speak at the 2009 Fulbright Symposium at Old Parliament House in Canberra from August 24-25, hosted by The University of Queensland.

The symposium comes five years after the signing of the US-Australia Free Trade Agreement and will look at the future trade policies and trade relations between the two countries, as well as intellectual property, agriculture, television and film content and funding rules, financial services, public procurement, and pharmaceuticals and health policy.

Former Deputy Prime Minister Mark Vaile will speak, along with Yeshiva University’s Professor Justin Hughes, Chinese University of Hong Kong’s Professor Bryan Mercurio, The University of Maryland’s Professor Mac Destler and The University of Queensland’s Professor Paul Greenfield.
