Veteran of UQ Business School’s Enterprize competition Soenke Weiss and his company SLAP Systems will today graduate from the state’s technology incubator i.lab.

SLAP Systems – whose clients include Marriot hotels, the Orient Express, and Malolo Island, Fiji – has developed a suite of hotel management tools to maximise property yield and profitability.

CEO Soenke Weiss said SLAP Systems was a runner-up in the 2004 Enterprize competition.

He said, “Our original concept for a software tool that would result in 20 per cent lower housekeeping costs has been in development since we entered the competition.

“The idea just grew and grew – so we needed more capital to fund its development.”

“SLAP Keeper is a world-first technology with a global patent and will be launched later this year.”

The company’s current product range includes yield optimisation system SLAP Yield, SLAP Messenger to communicate with guests before, during, and after their stay, and a powerful e-marketing tool SLAP Mail.

Weiss said the company had appointed resellers to promote their products internationally.

“Our strength is in developing new products and technologies and that’s what we’ll focus on going forward,” he said.

Asked about longer term plans for the company, Weiss said the company’s plan was to sell to a multinational technology company within the next three to four years.

“We expect the market reaction to SLAP Keeper to attract the attention of significant players in the industry,” he said.

“After that, I plan to buy a very big boat and sail to the Galapagos Islands.”
