Up and coming track and field stars will see how the big boys do it when Olympic javelin thrower Stuart Farquhar lines up at the Junior All Comers Meet at UQ this Sunday.

The event will be held at the University’s Athletics Centre, with the seven-time New Zealand National Title Holder in final preparation for the IAAF World Championships in Osaka, which begin later this month.

As well as seeing Mr Farquhar in full flight, children and spectators will get the chance to meet the star and grab some photos and an autograph.

2006 was a very successful year for the 25-year-old, who placed 7th for New Zealand in the Commonwealth Games, represented Oceania at the World Cup in Athens, and posted a personal best throw of 81.70m at the Australian Championships in Sydney.

Run between 2pm and 4pm at UQ’s St Lucia campus, the event encourages children between the ages of 8 and 12 to try a variety of track and field disciplines, with nominations closing 30 minutes before the start of each event.
