Year 10 students from the Ipswich and Brisbane regions are set to increase their business knowledge at The University of Queensland Business School's Buzz with Business Conference.

On Wednesday, June 6, UQ Business School will host the second Buzz with Business Conference at the University of Queensland's Ipswich Campus.

Event-founder Dr Marie Kavanagh said the conference was designed to give Year 10 students an introduction to current issues in the business world, as well as information on the array of careers available to them in business today.

"This year the students will get to hear presentations from industry leaders, accreditation bodies, and UQ Business School academics on topics covering entrepreneurship, legal issues, and career options," she said.

UQ Business School Ipswich Coordinator Professor Peter Green said the event provided an opportunity for students in the middle years of high school to increase their knowledge of business topics.

"It will also show them where this knowledge can take them in terms of possible careers in the future," Professor Green said.

"The event is structured like a normal day of university lectures so students coming onto campus for the day also get an insight into the university environment."

During presentations students will have the opportunity to take an active part in the sessions using keypads to type in responses to questions and scenarios. The students and their teachers will be assisted on the day by UQ Business School students who will act as conference guides.

The Buzz with Business Conference for Year 10 students has grown out of the very successful Engaging Business Conference hosted by UQ Business School for Year 12 high school students over the past several years.
