UQ law academic Dr Alan Davidson is the first Australian to be inducted as a Fellow of the Institute of International Banking Law and Practice (IIBLP).

Dr Davidson was recognised for his contributions to the Institute which included the provision of materials, case notes, articles, organisation, chairing sessions and speaking at conferences and seminars.

Dr Davidson said he was honoured to have received recognition from the Institute.

“I have a great respect and admiration for the work of the Institute,” he said.

“I recently returned from Dubai and Mumbai where I was speaking at conferences for the Institute. At both venues the Institute formally appointed me as a Fellow.”

The IIBLP is a not-for-profit educational and research organisation dedicated to achieving a better understanding of banking law and practice and their relationship to each other.

Dr Davidson is currently a senior lecturer with the TC Beirne School of Law and teaches in the areas of electronic commerce, internet law, banking law and corporations law.

He is Chair of the Asia Legal Advisory Council of the IIBLP and a member of an elite international team reviewing and updating the International Standby Practices (ISP98) and of the Banking Committee of the International Chamber of Commerce Australia.
