The University of Queenslandwill open its doors to prospective students, and their families and friends, at UQ Study Expo on Sunday August 6 from 9am to 4pm.

Students looking to study at UQ next year will have the opportunity to speak to academics and staff in their area of interest.

UQ Study Expo will have a vast array of information available with displays in Mayne Hall covering the full range of programs at the St Lucia, Ipswich and Gatton campuses.

The day will also include campus, college and library tours. The University's major museums and collections will open to visitors from 9am to 4pm. These include the Anatomy Museum, Anthropology Museum, Antiquities Museum, Zoology and Physics Museums.

UQ Study Expo spokesperson Dr Lisa Gaffney said University staff would be on hand to advise about programs, career paths, facilities and entry requirements. A series of talks throughout the day would provide valuable information about degree programs.

"The day will be very helpful for Year 10 students in planning their subjects for the next few years, and for Year 11 and 12 students in deciding the programs they would like to enter," she said. "We also are looking forward to seeing many people contemplating mature-age study."

Dr Gaffney said The University of Queensland offered high quality support for its students, including health services, personal counselling and learning assistance. In addition, its sporting and recreational facilities were superb.

Programs and campus maps will be available from Mayne Hall and from information guides.

Food outlets will be open in the Great Court, along with the Biol Cafeteria, Wordsmiths Cafe, Tanja's Coffee Shop), and a new noodle bar and icecreamery in the Student Union complex.

The University will hold Postgraduate Evenings at Mayne Hall St Lucia on August 7 from 3-7pm and at Customs House, Brisbane on October 16. Open days will also be held at UQ Ipswich (11 Salisbury Road) on Sunday, August 20 and at UQ Gatton on Sunday, August 27.
