Event Description

Full Description:
Can Queensland – as a cluster of firms, universities and research organisations – provide global scale and specialised engineering services to compete internationally? Can Brisbane be a true world engineering city, along the lines of Houston, USA? Is this desired? Is it even possible? And what do we need to do to get there?

Join us for breakfast to officially launch Professor Graham Schaffer’s Engineering Report – a proposal for building Queensland as a global centre of engineering excellence – and engage with an esteemed panel of experts as they explore whether, and how, we can make this happen.

The Engineering Report was prepared in collaboration with the Office of the Queensland Chief Scientist.

Moderator
Dr Geoff Garrett AO: Queensland Chief Scientist

The Panel
Professor Graham Schaffer: Executive Dean – Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Information Technology, The University of Queensland
Mr Andy Greig: President – Bechtel Mining and Metals Global Business Unit
Ms Emma Charlton: Workgroup Manager – Environmental Advisory Services Group, AECOM and Australian Young Professional Engineer of the Year 2011
Mr Jamie Merrick: Deputy Director-General (State Development) – Department of State Development, Infrastructure and Planning

We look forward to welcoming you to this special event.
