- The UQ Alumni Lunch Lecture Series moves to Melbourne in 2011, with guest speaker Steven Skala AO, Vice Chairman, Australia and New Zealand of Deutsche Bank AG. He is also Chairman of Wilson HTM Investment Group Limited and a Director of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation Board and Hexima Limited.
Steven has extensive commercial and corporate legal, banking and governance experience at the highest levels. He has advised or occupied board positions of several significant Government-owned corporations, listed companies and the private companies of well known entrepreneurs.
Active beyond law and commerce, Steven has been Chairman of Film Australia and The Australian Centre for Contemporary Art, and a Director of the Australian Ballet. Currently he serves as Vice President of the Walter & Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research, the Deputy Chair of the General Sir John Monash Foundation and a Member of the International Council of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York.
Steven was appointed an Officer in the Order of Australia in January 2010 for service to the arts, education, business and commerce.
Steven Skala is an alumnus of The University of Queensland and was awarded a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) and a Bachelor of Arts. He also holds a Bachelor of Civil Laws from Oxford University.
