Event Description
- Full Description:
- Instrument development is a traditional area of expertise of psychologists but is also a means by which to generate extremely impactful research as well as commercially viable products.
The Geriatric Anxiety Inventory was co-developed by Associate Professors Nancy Pachana (Psychology) and Gerard Byrne (Psychiatry) at UQ and commercialised through UniQuest.
The instrument has been translated into over a dozen languages, is in use in health care systems in the USA, the UK and Australia/NZ, and has been successfully marketed to health care organisations and pharmaceutical companies internationally.
The research and strategy associated with development of the instrument, the path to commercalisation and internationalisation, and maximizing research impact are discussed.
