Full Description:: AMSI Winter School is an annual two-week school (first held in 2005) designed for postgraduate students, early-career researchers and industry professionals in the mathematical sciences and related disciplines.

Each year, the school focuses on a specific theme, chosen from emerging national and international research trends and priorities, and provides a scaffolded introduction to current research by national and international experts, presenting open problems or cutting-edge techniques.

Participants expand their skills and knowledge while building collaborative national networks.

The University of Queensland will host AMSI Winter School 2024 on the Mathematics of Decision Making Under Uncertainty. The program will focus on decision making in situations where future outcomes are random and depend on current and past actions, and is applicable in fields including computer science, engineering, finance, healthcare, the environment and public policy.

To maximise the experience, several program extras including social events, specialist lectures, participants talks and activities will complement the academic program to encourage networking and collaboration.
