Full Description:
UQ will be celebrating International Day of People with Disability on 25 November 2022 as part of the Law Matters series. This day is a United Nations initiative aimed at increasing public awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disability. At UQ, this is a chance for staff and students to celebrate the contributions and achievements of people with disability and promote inclusion.

The Faculty of Business, Economics and Law Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee are pleased to invite you to bring along your lunch to a keynote presentation from an internationally renowned expert in disability law, followed by a panel discussion with UQ staff and students exploring an intersectional lens on opportunities for persons with disability in higher education. This will conclude with light refreshments and an opportunity to view research projects by staff and students with a disability.

Presented by Associate Professor Lisa Waddington, European Disability Endowed Chair from the Faculty of Law, Maastricht University.
Facilitated by Associate Professor Paul Harpur, UQ’s leading international and comparative disability rights legal academic and 2022 Blind Australian of the Year

Panel Discussion
An intersectional lens on opportunities for Persons with Disability in Higher Education

Shaun Bickley (they/them), disability justice advocate focused on disability employment policy and undergraduate student at The University of Queensland.
