- Full Description:
- Presenter: Dr Marlies Hankel, Research Computing Centre & Queensland Cyber Infrastructure Foundation
In this talk I will discuss UQ’s advanced data management systems for scientific instruments, machine learning infrastructure and supercomputers, including Bunya, our latest high-performance computer (HPC). The University’s Research Computing Centre (RCC) manages and supports all these resources for researchers.
I will briefly outline what our HPCs can do for your research, and which one is the right fit for your work. This year, Bunya, an all-rounder HPC, is replacing three legacy UQ supercomputers. Wiener, an HPC for imaging-intensive and machine learning research, will continue to operate.
For researchers working with imaging data, I will provide an overview of the data management platforms we have to help you manage your data. This includes OMERO, XNAT (the Australian Imaging Service), and Pitschi (also known as Clowder). These systems store data with index metadata, making it possible to search for and retrieve files using complex queries.
Lastly, I will discuss how RCC supports researchers working in machine learning. Wiener plays a big part in this support, but it also includes various machine learning software platforms and tools.
