Event Description

Full Description:
With the massification of higher education it is easy for students to feel like a number, especially in a large enrolment subject. This session will present a case study of a large class (1500+ students) and how they have overcome the problem of scale and increased engagement through the use of technology. Examples include:

- automated emails and SMS based on learning analytics to connect with students based on their grades, login activity, assessment submission and completion
- improving the quality and student’s satisfaction with feedback, using by recording audio and video feedback and using feedforward strategies, and
- giving just-enough, just-in-time, just-for-me support using a Live Chat widget within the unit’s LMS site.

Jaclyn will present data on increased retention (e.g. 98%), high student satisfaction with the teaching within the subject (e.g. 94-98% satisfied) and high satisfaction with the feedback they receive (e.g. 93-99% satisfied).
