Event Description
- Full Description:
- Guided by a steering committee co-chaired by Gaja Kerry Charlton and Professor Peter Høj, UQ's Vice-Chancellor and President, UQ has developed a Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) to build on the extensive work undertaken to support the inclusion of diverse cultures and knowledges. The RAP recognises the contributions that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have brought and continue to bring to UQ. In providing a practical framework for UQ, the RAP strengthens this work in building respectful relationships and opportunities between Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and non-Indigenous peoples.
On 5 December 2018, UQ will launch its first Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP). Our Innovate RAP outlines UQ’s commitment to practical actions and deliverables that strengthen and build relationships, respect and opportunities between Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and non-Indigenous peoples.
The main event, the RAP Launch Ceremony, will take place in the Graduation Marquee in the Great Court from 10:00–11.30 am and will be video linked to both the Herston and Gatton campuses. The ceremony includes speeches and performances by distinguished alumni, including renowned songwriter and artist, Kev Carmody.
UQ Alumni, UQ staff and students, industry partners, and Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and broader communities are welcome at this important occasion.
