Event Description

Full Description:
The School of Languages and Cultures will host the inaugural Asian Studies Research Camp at The University of Queensland, 13–15 February 2019. The Camp is an opportunity for students interested in Asia to develop their research skills and potential.

The camp will be held over three days and two nights, and will include workshops with experts, interactive writing sessions, and small-group and mentoring activities. Successful applicants will have all costs associated with the camp covered (other than transport to and from the camp), including meals and accommodation.

Who should apply?
The Camp is designed for students with an interest in Asia. You should apply if:
 you have a strong interest in Asia;
 you are enrolled/ want to enrol in Honours in an Asia-related area at The University of Queensland;
 you are a 2nd year (or above) student, and studying courses on Asia; and
 you meet the Eligibility Criteria (below).

Eligibility Criteria
Students interested in applying for the Asian Studies Research Camp will be required to provide evidence of and demonstrate the following:
1. Enrolment as an undergraduate (2nd year and above) or Honours student at The University of Queensland;
2. A history of excellent academic performance, as demonstrated by academic transcript (5.5 GPA) and a letter of recommendation;
3. A strong interest in the study of Asia; and
4. An ability to attend and participate in the entire program.

Note: Previous Asian language study/experience is preferable, but not essential.
