Full Description:: Aim: This activity aims to facilitate connections between members and allow them to practice their networking, communication and team work skills. It also aims to encourage networks between Gatton and St Lucia based students and dissolve barriers between members due to differences in background, nationality, research areas, etc.
Content: A guest speaker from the Gatton Agribusiness Association will be invited to give a presentation on networking and give some helpful advice to participants. The speed networking activity will then commence, which will consist of 5 minute timed rotations that allow participants to introduce themselves to one another, talk about their research and make a meaningful connection.
Expectations: At the conclusion of the activity, canapes and drinks will be served to encourage participants to mingle and talk further. Some team building activities will also be held during this time to create a fun and relaxing atmosphere and encourage casual discussions.
Venue and Transportation: This event will be held on the Gatton campus to encourage involvement from Gatton participants that often find it difficult to travel to St Lucia. A shuttle bus will be organised for the St Lucia participants.
