- Dr Brown received his PhD from QUT studying under Professor Lavin at QIMR and subsequently moved to Galway, Ireland. He has worked in the Centre for Chromosome Biology, the Regenerative Medicine Institute/Systems Biology Ireland and is currently an Honorary Research Lecturer and Junior Group Leader (mentored by Professor Michael Kerin) at the Lambe Institute of Translational Research (School of Medicine – National University of Ireland Galway).
He has a strong research record and was awarded the prestigious European Association for Cancer Research young scientist award (2015) by the Irish association for Cancer Research (IACR) for his publication in Scientific Reports (Gao et al, 2014) developing and validating a novel compound that preferentially targets breast cancer. His group is currently focused on discovering and evaluating breast cancer biomarkers (microRNA or protein) found in circulation or in primary tumours.
