- PUBLIC LECTURE: Inspiring Women
The University of Queensland is delighted to host Ms Kate Hall as the 2016 Seymour Whyte Visiting Scholar for Women in Civil Engineering.
Kate Hall is the Director of the Built Environment for HS2 Ltd, leading the expert teams responsible for the system wide specification, subsequence assurance and provision of expert guidance across the whole portfolio of Architecture and Civil Engineering (in all its forms including geotechnical, structural, tunnelling and highway engineering). Kate’s portfolio also includes leadership of the Design team – developing with the many interested parties the look and feel of the new route infrastructure and stations.
Ms Hall will deliver a public lecture on Inspiring Women - a reflection on her career as a Chartered Civil Engineer, and the impact a diverse Civil Engineering profession can make on communities around the world.
Ms Hall will address the challenges Civil Engineering faces in engaging with and retaining women in the profession. She will use her own career experiences to highlight the opportunities and issues surrounding increasingly important need for greater diversity in Civil Engineering.
This free event is open to all members of industry, engineering students across all disciplines and interested patrons, and promises to be a valuable networking opportunity.
Canapes and refreshments to follow the lecture.
