- In conjunction with its latest exhibition, A Study in Stone, the RD Milns Antiquities Museum presents its fourth Saturday Series for 2014 featuring a presentation by Mr Michael Turner FSA, Senior Curator of at the Nicholson Museum, University of Sydney. Mr Turner will speak on the topic - Charles Nicholson in Italy 1856-58: the genesis of a collection (and a museum).
About the Speaker: Michael Turner has been Senior Curator of the Nicholson Museum at the University of Sydney since 2005. He has curated exhibitions on everything from Sigmund Freud’s Antiquities to the Lego Acropolis, now on permanent display in the Acropolis Museum in Athens. His next major exhibition, opening in March 2015 will be Death Magic, an exploration of Egyptian funerary practice and belief. His latest book, published in August was Corpus Vasorum Antiquorum: the red figure and over-painted pottery of South Italy, written together with Alexander Cambitoglou.
Michael is an elected Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries in London.
