Internal Goals

The UQBUG is pleased to report completion of the following internal goals during the initial months of resurrection in early 2007:

Appoint committee (chair, secretary, membership officer, website content officer)
Setup and maintain a uqbug@uq.edu.au email address
Design UQBUG logo
Design UQBUG promotional poster (signage material donated by UQ Traffic & Parking)
Setup a register of interested bicycle users within The University of Queensland community
Create issues register
Design Strategic Plan
Design Operational Plan (strategic goals with time lines and resource allocations)
Setup document storage on central server share

The UQBUG has begun the following internal goal as a project in progress:

External Goals

The UQBUG will engage the following external goals into projects:

Design and implement a plan to accommodate adequate capacity and placement of bicycle bollards around campus for semi-secure lockup of bicycles in external environments. This initiative should allow bicycles to be secured away from pathways and building entry points for safe pedestrian access, whilst allowing close proximity of bicycle location to study and work environments.
Design and implement a plan to post adequate signage for access to bike paths, bike lock up locations, showers, lockers and change rooms.
Design and implement a plan for increasing the bike path network around campus
Design a standard for bicycle “end of route multi-facilities” consisting of:
- Secure bicycle storage room complete with air recycling system and a combination of bollards and cages for bike security
- Gender specific shower / change rooms with air recycling system
- Clothes lockers with ventilation, hanging and shelf space 24-hour secure access
- Include a regular cleaning schedule
