
Strategic Plan
ScopeThe UQ Bicycle User Group (UQBUG) does not possess the authority to order or execute infrastructure works or modifications on UQ property, Brisbane City Council (BCC) property, or any property not owned by, but which may be used by its membership. Examples of these include: UQ and BCC bike paths, UQ Secure bike storage rooms (SBSR), and official UQ and BCC Signage. The UQBUG takes responsibility for representing the cumulative view of The University of Queensland cycling community to those who do have the authority to carry out works and modifications to such facilities. The UQ cycling community includes but is not limited to current and potential cyclists within the UQ staff and student communities. The target group within this community would be bicycle commuters to and from UQ St Lucia campus, eventually including all campuses, however all cyclists within the UQ community are welcome. As described in the scope, the UQBUG has no direct governance of facilities or infrastructure. Achieving external objectives needs to be through consultation with the administrators of the relevant infrastructure. The UQBUG seeks to maintain a consultative capacity with all relevant governors of cycling and UQ infrastructure, including:
ObjectivesThe UQBUG has internal and external objectives. Each has a distinct set of alliances through which the objectives can be met. The internal objectives are about rallying and maintaining support for improved facilities from within cycling interest groups. The external objectives are about rallying and supporting infrastructure administrators to accommodate improvement projects and maintain adequate standards of cycling facilities in and around the University of Queensland.Internal ObjectivesThe internal objectives are designed to feed external objectives.
