Why study the Master of Veterinary Science?

The program in veterinary science offers a higher degree qualification including formal courses and a significant project and report in veterinary pathology and diagnostics. This program provides academic enhancement of existing competencies in pathology as well as advanced research skills training, and qualifies graduates for enrolment in a higher degree.

The Master of Veterinary Science replaced the Master of Veterinary Studies in 2014. Students enrolled in the Master of Veterinary Studies can refer to the program requirements, rules and course list for the Master of Veterinary Studies.

Careers

The program provides opportunities for career enhancement, specific discipline development, and qualification for research higher degree study, including PhD study.

Program Rules and Requirements

To complete the Master of Veterinary Science

To complete the Master of Veterinary Science, a student must complete a requisite number of courses chosen from the course list and according to the Rules for the program.

Students should be aware of the University of Queensland rules, particularly the General Award Rules, which govern the conduct of UQ programs. Students will find a link to the General Award Rules, and other University rules, on the University Rules page.

A student must complete #24 in total, comprising:

  • #10 from part A; and
  • #14 from part B or part C or a combination of both.
Students wishing to fulfil the Field of Study must complete #8 from part B.
