What you can study

Students will engage in learning experiences that promote and encourage extensive analysis and critical reflection on current coaching practices and contexts. They will develop expertise and knowledge in examining and enhancing both athletic and coaching performance across bio-physical (e.g. recovery, program management, rate limiters) and socio-cultural (e.g. quality coaching practices, emotional regulation, cultures of excellence) domains. Freedom is offered to investigate areas of specific significance to their coaching practice.

What you can do with a Master of Sports Coaching

Careers

Our graduates move into more advanced coaching roles and work with high performance athletes and sporting teams. The design of the courses within the program offers opportunities for application of learning experiences specifically to the coaches' setting. Careers include:

  • head and assistant coach

  • sports development manager

  • coach educator.

Program Rules and Requirements

To complete the Master of Sports Coaching

To complete the Master of Sports Coaching, a student must complete a requisite number of courses chosen from the course list and according to the Rules for the program.

Students should be aware of the University of Queensland rules, particularly the General Award Rules, which govern the conduct of UQ programs. Students will find a link to the General Award Rules, and other University rules, on the University Rules page.

A student is required to obtain #24 from the MSportCoach course list in the chosen field or from other courses as approved by the Executive Dean. Refer to the program rules for further information.
