Why study Exploration Geophysics?

Exploration geophysics is the practical application of geophysical methods (such as seismic, gravitational, magnetic, electrical and electromagnetic) to measure the physical properties of rocks in the Earth's surface. These skills are of vital importance to the exploration industry where these measurements are used to identify and constrain economic deposits of ore, coal and hydrocarbons.
