 Where are they now?

Celeste Bownds, BMars (Hons)

Celeste investigated the effect of temperature on maternal investment and offspring performance in zebrafish for her honours project in 2007. Celeste is currently working in the planning and assessment unit of the Qld DPI&F.

Karly Turner, BA. Psychology/BSc. Zoology (Hons)

Karly completed her honours degree in 2007 with an investigating the influence of geographical variation on the thermal dependence of performance in Pacific blue-eyes. She is currently working as a research assistant at the Queensland Brain Institute at the University of Queensland.

Skye Cameron, BSc (Hons)

Skye investigated the thermal biology and behavioural thermoregulation in the Eastern Water Dragon,  Physignathus lesueurii. Since completing in 2006 Skye has worked as a research assistant/field technician with the CSIRO waterways management scheme.

Katrin "Kitty" Lowe

Katrin was interested in the thermal biology of the Lamington spiney crayfish, Eustacas salcatus. This species is restricted to a single high altitude site in the Gold Coast hinterland, possibly due adaptation to the unique thermal environment. Since completing in 2006 Katrin has worked as a research assistant at Griffith University but wants to direct her own research so is currently contemplating her PhD prospects.

Rebecca Ferris, BSc (Hons)

Rebecca completed an honours project in the integrative ecology lab investigating the thermal acclimatory response in a predator-prey relationship.  Since completing in 2005, she has followed her passion for animal wellfare and conservation volunteering to help the plight of orphaned Orang-utans in Malaysia and rearing Lion cubs to be released into the reserves of Zimbabwe.  Currently Becs passion has her working in her dream job caring for all kinds of beasties at Australia Zoo.
