Robbie Wilson and Gwen David attended the World Science and Soccer Conference held in Port Elizabeth, South Africa (8-9 June 2010) just in time for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. This conference attracted a wide international audience and addressed recent findings in relation to soccer performance and refereeing.
Robbie presented work on multivariate statistical analyses of underlying traits to predict soccer-tennis performance. In turn, Gwen presented additional results in the same vein on predicting match performance of soccer players using the same multivariate statistical analyses. However, no trip to South Africa can be made with out visiting a game reserve.
So, the duo hit Addo Elephant Park and spotted a range of awesome beasts such as lions, elephants, kudos, elands, zebras and warthogs. Also, they made to the Port Elizabeth fan park take in the full excitement and atmosphere of the opening match of the World Cup, where South Africa drew Mexico 1-1.
