Event Description

Full Description:
Our aim is to produce students that are culturally capable and respectful leaders. This session will demonstrate how to apply Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles in our assessment design; empowering students with inclusive practices that ready them for a diverse and complex world.

UQ's Disability Action Plan 2023–2025 requires that by Q4 2024 Universal Design principles are routinely considered when designing curricula. We'll provide strategies, innovative case studies and a platform to exchange ideas. Join students and teaching colleagues as we highlight innovate practices and enhance accessible assessment design in your course.

This session is presented by award winning teaching and learning experts Professor Gwen Lawrie (Science) and Dr Lynda Shevellar (HASS), and Learning designers from the Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences (HASS) and Business, Economics and Law (BEL) faculties.

Session participants will:
- explore and exchange case studies of good practice
- hands on assessment re-design and problem solving
- learn about existing practices, services and resources to help us make our courses and assessments more inclusive
- hear student perspectives.
