Event Description

Full Description:
Based the premise that students who engage in global experiences are better able to leverage their UQ degree in a global marketplace, this seminar-style session delivers a broad understanding of the value, impact and practical aspects of global experiences currently offered at UQ.

Through 8–10-minute presentations, a selective set of UQ units will inspire and empower the audience to become involved in existing or initiate new global experiences that complement students' current experiences. Each UQ unit will outline opportunities for staff to become involved and lead new initiatives.

This session will drive conversations about students’ global career potential and lead to initiatives assisting students to gain greater capability in adapting to new environments, cross-cultural communication and challenging their worldly assumptions.

Session participants will:
- gain an understanding of the value, impact and practical aspects of global experiences (e.g. exchange programs, global (virtual) internships, global alumni connections) currently offered at UQ
- gain access to pathways that can facilitate and maximize the benefits of global experiences for students to learn new ideas on how to develop new global experiences for students regardless of their discipline, level of study or background.

Presenters:
- Dr Dino Willox (Director, Student Employability)
- Tamara Weissflog (Manager, Strategy and Partnerships, Global Partnerships)
- Nimrod Klayman (Head of Entrepreneurship)
- Emma Dawson (Manager, International Alumni Engagement) & Mikaeli Costello (Chief Community Engagement Officer, Advancement and Community Engagement).
