Guest speaker Dr Jeff Barrett from the Sanger Institute, UK.
Jeff will be presenting Comprehensive genomic surveillance of Covid-19 in the UK.

Jeff Barrett’s Bio: Jeff Barrett leads the Sanger Institute's Covid-19 genomic surveillance programme. We sequence and analyse samples from positive tests around the UK in near real time in order to help guide public health response to local outbreaks. Prior to that Jeff studied the genetic basis of human diseases in both industry and academia. Most recently he was Chief Scientific Officer at Genomics plc, and before that Director of Open Targets, a public-private initiative to use human genetics to improve early stage drug discovery. He was a group leader at the Sanger Institute for ten years, where he focused on the genetics of inflammatory and neurodevelopmental diseases. He is a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences.
