Event Description
- Full Description:
- Dr Cora Lau
Consultant Veterinarian, UQ Biological Resources, The University of Queensland, presents:
The role of a veterinarian in biomedical sciences
'My role as the UQ Biological resources veterinarian evolved from providing assistance with research during the amalgamation of animal facilities in 2007 and has grown to be that of providing clinical support for biomedical researchers. The role of a biomedical veterinarian is vastly distinct from the animal welfare officer as my main job is to assist with studies and help with developing new protocols with a global view of best practice (animal welfare & study significance).
The other side of the role is also to assist with any unforeseen issues arising from the studies and provide veterinary intervention if required.'
Bio: Dr Lau obtained her Bachelor of Veterinary Science with Honours in 2003 and a PhD in Neuroscience in 2013 (receptor neurophysiology, rodent anaesthesia and analgesia). She has a particular interest in fish anaesthesia and translational research and has worked as a biomedical veterinarian since 2007.
Dr Lau has expressed this is an informal talk and invites you to ask any questions throughout the seminar.
This seminar will be delivered online.
