Why do we measure O2 and toxic gases in workplaces? Many of us invest significant time and money installing and maintaining a network of gas alarms. In the last 12 months a few UQSafe incidents have been recorded relating to gas alarms. This talk draws on lessons learnt by CSIRO when a research scientist died from asphyxiation Geelong in 2001. Mechanical / natural ventilation, location of sensors / displays, regular calibration and training are all discussed.
Presenter: Brian Logan, HSW Advisor (Occupational Hygiene)
