Event Description

Full Description:
Violinist Adam Chalabi and pianist Anna Grinberg join forces to present works from opposite ends of the 20th century. Elgar and Kreisler wrote these masterpieces in the first two decades of the century and Arvo Pärt conceived of the breathtakingly beautiful and serene ‘Spiegel im Spiegel’ in 1978. The centrepiece of the program is Elgar’s mighty violin sonata - a hugely underrated work which showcases a composer who is exploring the expressive realms of the violin and piano partnership whilst clinging longingly to the sound world of the romantic era. The program also features Anna and Adam’s now customary nod to Beethoven in the form of one of his two delightful romances.

Livestream on Frday 7 August at 1pm: bit.ly/UQVirtualConcert07Aug
