Event Description

Full Description:
The United Nations has named April 7th as the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Rwanda Genocide. This day commemorates the deaths of 800,000 people who were murdered during the 1994 genocide in Rwanda, central Africa. The shock of this genocide shook the world. On the 25th anniversary of these terrible events, we reflect on the impact of the genocide on Rwanda and the region and on the world. Our expert panel discuss the genocide itself, how it happened, what allowed for it to happen, the impact on the Democratic Republic of Congo and how it affected our responses to mass atrocities.
Panelists include: Professor Alex Bellamy, Luisa Ryan, Sr Seb Kaempf and Obinna Ifediora
