Event Description

Full Description:
Listening to motor units: Intercepting communication between our brain and our muscles (HMNS Seminar Series)

Voluntary muscle activation is controlled by the recruitment and rate coding of motor units. Motor units consist of a motor neuron, axon, and the muscle fibres it innervates. Recruitment and rate coding happen concurrently, yet we do not fully understand the exact relationship between the two, something that appears to be muscle dependent. Understanding the principles that govern muscle force production is essential if we aim to optimise performance in sports, healthy ageing or motor impairment. This seminar will be presented by Dr Jeroen Aeles (UQ School of Human Movement and Nutrition Sciences).

**No RSVP required and all welcome.***
