Event Description

Full Description:
With the dislodgement of Malcom Turnbull as leader of the Liberal Party and replacement by Scott Morrison, Australia has seen six Prime Minsters in office in eight years. Since 2007 no Prime Minster has served her or his full term and five have been overthrown. The latest leadership ’coup’ has also been accompanied by serious accusations of bullying and intimidation. What are the causes of this leadership instability and what are its consequences? Is Australia becoming an unstable democracy? And is the culture of Australian politics changing?

Professor Kath Gelber from POLSIS, Assoc. Professor Susan Harris Rimmer, ARC Fellow from Griffith Law School and Simon Kelly PhD candidate/Sessional lecturer - Globalisation and International Political Economy will discuss this and other elements of our latest political 'FlashPoint.

All Welcome - bring your lunch!
