Title: 'The cholinergic basal forebrain and Alzheimer’s disease: from obstructive sleep apnoea to the p75 neurotrophin receptor'
Abstract:
Professor Coulson will talk about her ongoing studies on the role of degeneration of cholinergic neurons of the basal forebrain in progression of Alzheimer’s disease and how this degeneration may be caused by obstructive sleep apnoea. She will also discuss the normal role of p75 in cholinergic neuronal function, and how p75 might be targeted as a treatment for dementia patients who have sleep apnoea.
