Full Description:
We are privileged to have the company of Professor Joel Lexchin at PCCU on May 9th. He works as an emergency physician in Toronto, and is affiliated with both York University and the University of Toronto. He has extensive experience writing and publishing in the area of pharmaceutical policy issues for over 30 years. He is author/ co-author of over 140 peer reviewed papers in areas of drug regulation, pharmacosurveillance, drug promotion, access to medications in developing countries and physician prescribing behavior. He has consulted on these issues with the Ontario provincial government, the Canadian federal government, the New Zealand government, the Australian NPS Medicinewise, and the WHO.

He will be delivering the Primary Care Clinical Unit research seminar between 1 and 3pm on Level 3 (room 311) of the Health Sciences Building at Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital on May 9th. This presentation is entitled, 'The marketing of opioids in Canada', and will include a broader overview of the relationship between the Canadian medical profession and the pharmaceutical industry.
