Title: “Molecular Control of Interneuron Identity”

Abstract:
Disrupted interneuron activity is known to lead to circuit imbalances, but the mechanisms underlying this remain elusive. We showed that the Er81 transcription factor controls neuronal identity and function in the cortex and the striatum. Our latest study reveals some mechanisms behind this regulation during development and describes a fundamental link between the relevant molecular events in the development of interneurons and the emergence of their functional specificity within the neuronal circuits.
