Event Description

Full Description:
Presenter: Timothy Ruben (Confirmation milestone seminar)

The relatively recent realisation that the creationist movement had spread beyond the confines of the United States prompted a number of studies to focus their attention on the development of creationism in Europe and the Islamic World. No significant attempt, however, has been made to examine the views of the religious in Australia.

This thesis will attempt to shed light on the views of Australian Baptists concerning creationism and evolutionary biology by interviewing theologians from different theological colleges associated with Australian Baptist Ministries. First, this thesis will explore the diverse range of views advocated by these theologians. It will then discuss any significant trends that arise. Finally, this thesis will examine the significance of social and geographical influences on the reception of evolutionary theory.
