Event Description

Full Description:
Strength and conditioning is now a major training component of most athletes across professional and Olympic and Paralympic sports. With so much time dedicated to physical preparation, practices have had to move to being more evidenced based which has increased the rigour in the methodologies used by coaches. What was biased to coaching pedagogy has now expanded into science and technology biases. While it is critical to optimise training adaptation through appropriate monitoring and testing which guide the training programme, the need to ‘coach’ athletes has never been as strong. The delicate balance between coaching and science will be explored using examples from the current and previous Olympiad from Team GB.

This seminar will be presented by Alex Wolf, Head of Strength and Conditioning
at the English Institute of Sport.
