Event Description

Full Description:
The School of Education’s Internationalisation Committee presents this special screening of Rabbit Proof Fence to acknowledge Sorry Day. The event and its significance will be introduced by Associate Professor Liz Mackinlay and guests. We particularly welcome our colleagues from other nations to this event.

National Reconciliation Week is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures and achievements and to explore how each of us can join the national reconciliation effort. Sorry Day is acknowledged on 26 May each year.

Rabbit Proof Fence is based on the true story of three young Indigenous girls who in 1931 escaped from an official camp - and the government's integrationist policy - to make the 1,500 mile trek home.
