The Road to and from Quito: Will Habitat III meet the needs of our collective urban future?

Abstract

With a focus on the Asian and Pacific region, this seminar will discuss preparations for the Third United Nations Conference on Housing and Sustainable Development, what is being proposed through its planned outcome document 'A New Urban Agenda', and what the legacy may be for cities and their stakeholders (including planners!).

Bio-sketch

Donovan Storey is Chief of the Sustainable Urban Development Unit (SUDU), and former chief of social policy and population, Social Development Division, UNESCAP. He was previously an academic in the School of GPEM at UQ specializing in development management, social development and urban governance. Prior to that, he worked in New Zealand and Fiji as a development specialist focusing on the Pacific Islands and Southeast Asia. Dr Storey obtained a Ph.D. in development studies in New Zealand.
